GOP lawmakers, leaders react to Israel’s retaliatory strikes against Iran: ‘America stands with Israel’

Republican lawmakers and leaders voiced support for Israel after the Jewish nation launched a retaliatory strike against Iran after the Islamic Republic unleashed a barrage of missiles earlier this month. “America stands with Israel,” former Vice President Mike Pence wrote in an X post. Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., echoed Pence’s sentiment, saying Israel is “our great ally.” ISRAEL BEGINS RETALIATORY STRIKES AGAINST IRAN FOLLOWING MISSILE BARRAGE TARGETING ISRAELIS “America continues to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our great ally Israel in the face of terror,” he wrote. Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., wrote, “The United States stands with Israel.” Other lawmakers took to social media to share that they were rooting for the Israeli military as it “defends itself against the evil Iranian regime.” “God Bless Israel as it seeks to defend itself against the evil Iranian regime for these vicious attacks over the past year and decades prior, only emboldened by the weak Biden-Harris admin that allegedly leaked their plans,” Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., wrote.  “The U.S. must stand with Israel today and always.” “Iran is on the ‘find out’ side of the equation right now. I stand with Israel,” former state Rep. Tim Whelan, R-Mass., wrote. “May almighty God keep the IAF and IDF safe.” The GOP’s reaction came after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Friday it was “conducting precise strikes on military targets in Iran.“ “The regime in Iran and its proxies in the region have been relentlessly attacking Israel since Oct. 7 — on seven fronts — including direct attacks from Iranian soil,” the IDF said in a statement. “Like every other sovereign country in the world, the State of Israel has the right and the duty to respond. Our defensive and offensive capabilities are fully mobilized. We will do whatever necessary to defend the State of Israel and the people of Israel.” Fox News Digital’s Greg Norman and Brie Stimson contributed to this report.

Russia is supplying Houthis with satellite data to attack ships in the Red Sea: report

Russia is supplying Houthis with satellite data to attack ships in the Red Sea: report

Russia has been aiding the Houthis’ assault on Western shipping lanes in the Red Sea by providing them targeting data.  As the Houthis ramped up their strikes on the U.S. and other nations’ postures in the region after the Oct. 7 attack on Israel, Russians offered satellite data allowing them to expand their strikes, take out multimillion-dollar U.S. drones and hit ships sailing through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, through which 12% of global trade passes, according to a Wall Street Journal report.  Each munition used to intercept a Houthi strike costs the U.S. upwards of between $1 million and $4 million.  The data passed through Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).  The satellite data would represent direct Russian involvement in attacks on the U.S. In response to the report, Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told Fox News Digital: “I am focused on U.S./U.K. providing satellite data to [Kyiv] regime to commit terrorist attacks against civilians.” SAUDI ARABIA AND IRAN SQUASH DECADES OF HOSTILITY WITH UNPRECEDENTED JOINT MILITARY DRILLS While the U.S. has tried to avoid direct involvement in the war by withholding long-range capabilities of U.S. weapons for Ukraine, it has provided classified intelligence to Kyiv’s war efforts.  The news comes at the same time North Korea is sending at least 3,000 troops to fight alongside the Russians — as the conflicts in both the Middle East and Ukraine expand in global involvement.  The U.S. has long been involved in diplomatic efforts to prevent Russia from arming the Houthis, a group Washington redesignated as a terrorist organization in January.  LLOYD AUSTIN WARNS AGAINST ISOLATIONISM AND INSISTS UKRAINE ABSOLUTELY CAN WIN WAR AGAINST RUSSIA The Houthis have vowed to continue their attacks until there is a cease-fire in Gaza and Lebanon.  In addition to destroying goods destined for the West, the regular Houthi attacks drive up insurance costs, as premiums for some shot up tenfold. They also force some ships to travel the long way, down around the Horn of Africa, which can add $1 million in fuel costs for a round trip.  Since Oct. 7, 2023, Houthis have targeted more than 100 merchant vessels with missiles and drones, seizing one, sinking two and killing four sailors. Oil tanker traffic has now nearly halved through Bab al-Mandab, the strait that separates the Red Sea from the Indian Ocean, from October 2023 to August of this year, according to Windward, a maritime-intelligence company. The rebel group shot down one of the U.S.’ MQ-9 Reaper drones, valued at $30 million a piece, in October and two in September.  In recent months, Russian President Vladimir Putin has strengthened ties with Iran, despite a historic friendship with Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.  Putin has criticized the U.S. and Israel over the conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon and said the region risks all-out war.  The U.S. has been urging Russia not to provide antiship or antiair missiles to the Houthis which could threaten U.S. military postures in the region.  Viktor Bout, the Russian arms dealer the U.S. traded for WNBA player Brittney Griner in a prisoner exchange, is attempting to broker a $10 million small arms deal with the Houthis, according to The Wall Street Journal. It’s not clear whether the deal is sanctioned by the Kremlin.  Tankers carrying Russian oil have been the subject of Houthi attacks, but they are operating through shell companies meant to hide their Russian origin and evade Western oil sanctions.

Biden apologizes for federal Indian boarding schools: ‘One of the most horrific chapters in American history’

President Biden on Friday offered a “long overdue” formal apology from the government for the Federal Indian Boarding School Initiative, describing it as “one of the most horrific chapters in American history.”  The U.S. Department of the Interior says the program, which lasted over a 150-year period that ended in 1969, established 408 schools across 37 states to “culturally assimilate American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian children by forcibly removing them from their families, communities, languages, religions and cultural beliefs.”  “After 150 years, the United States government eventually stopped the program. But the federal government has never, never formally apologized for what happened — until today,” Biden told an audience while speaking at the Gila River Indian Community in Arizona. “I formally apologize, as President of the United States of America, for what we did. I formally apologize. That’s long overdue.”  “At first, in the 1800s, the effort was voluntary, asking tribes… to send their children away to vocational schools. But then the federal government mandated the removal of children from their families and tribes, launching what’s called the Federal Indian Boarding School era,” he said.  BIDEN SEEKS TO CEMENT LEGACY ON CLIMATE CHANGE IN REMAINING MONTHS AS PRESIDENT  “One of the most horrific chapters in American history,” Biden continued. “We should be ashamed, a chapter that most Americans don’t know about.”  FLASHBACK: BIDEN TO SIGN EXECUTIVE ORDER ON FEDERAL FUNDING FOR NATIVE AMERICANS  “Generations of native children stolen, taken away to places they didn’t know, with people they never met, who spoke a language they had never heard. Native communities silenced. Their children’s laughter and play were gone,” Biden also said. “Children would arrive at schools, their clothes taken off, their hair that they were told was sacred, was chopped off, their names literally erased, replaced by a number or an English name.”  At least 973 Native American children died during the program, during which more than 18,000 were taken from their parents, according to The Associated Press.

‘The worst thing I’ve ever heard’: Holocaust survivor blasts Harris for comparing Trump to Hitler

‘The worst thing I’ve ever heard’: Holocaust survivor blasts Harris for comparing Trump to Hitler

The Trump campaign released an ad Friday featuring a Holocaust survivor criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris for comparing former President Trump to Adolf Hitler.  “I know more about Hitler than Kamala will ever know in a thousand lifetimes,” 94-year-old Jerry Wartski, a survivor of Auschwitz, says in the roughly minute-and-a-half advertisement. “For her to accuse President Trump of being like Hitler is the worst thing I’ve ever heard in my 75 years living in the United States.” Wartski said Trump was a “mensch,” a Yiddish term of endearment, arguing “he has always stood with the Jewish people and the State of Israel.” TRUMP BLASTS HARRIS OVER HITLER COMPARISON, RIPS HIS FORMER CHIEF OF STAFF: ‘LOWLIFE’ Wartski also demanded an apology from Harris.  “I know President Trump, and he would never say this, and Kamala Harris knows this,” Wartski says. “She owes my parents and everybody else who was murdered by Hitler an apology.” Fox News Digital reached out to the Harris campaign for comment but did not immediately receive a response. The ad comes after Harris repeatedly compared Trump to Hitler this week, including during a press conference from the steps of her formal residence at the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C., during a town hall Wednesday that Harris conducted with CNN and on social media.  ‘ADMIRES DICTATORS’: HARRIS CONTINUES COMPARING TRUMP TO HITLER DURING BATTLEGROUND STATE TOWN HALL Harris’ remarks followed media reports this week that detailed alleged claims by ex-Trump administration officials, including Trump’s former chief of staff, John Kelly, that the former president on “multiple occasions” praised Hitler and the loyalty his Nazi generals showed him. “Donald Trump is out for unchecked power. He wants a military like Adolf Hitler had, who will be loyal to him, not our Constitution,” Harris posted to X this week. “He is unhinged, unstable, and given a second term, there would be no one to stop him from pursuing his worst impulses.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP “If the President of the United States, the commander in chief, is saying to his generals, in essence, ‘Why can’t you be more like Hitler’s generals?’ Anderson, come on. This is a serious, serious issue,” Harris said during her town hall event Wednesday.  “And we know who he is. He admires dictators, sending love letters back and forth with Kim Jong Un.”

Texas lawmakers demand answers on fatal crash allegedly caused by illegal immigrant: ‘Infuriating’

Texas lawmakers demand answers on fatal crash allegedly caused by illegal immigrant: ‘Infuriating’

FIRST ON FOX: Texas lawmakers are calling for additional information from the federal government about a purported illegal immigrant accused of killing an American citizen while allegedly driving under the influence. Thirty-five-year-old Jorge Peralta is accused of crashing into three vehicles on Oct. 13 in a collision that killed 29-year-old Grayson Davis. Peralta is accused of running away and resisting arrest, according to CBS Austin,  The outlet reported that he confessed to having consumed five beers before driving, and that he is now being held as an ICE detainee. DHS IDENTIFIES HUNDREDS OF MIGRANTS WITH POSSIBLE TIES TO BLOODTHIRSTY VENEZUELAN GANG Rep. Michael Cloud, R-Texas and Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, along with State Rep. Stan Gerdes, say they have been told that Peralta is an illegal immigrant who was deported under the Obama and Trump administrations, but that he then returned illegally in 2021. The Bastrop County Sheriff’s office confirmed to their offices that it had reported the suspect to ICE, and that they had placed a hold on him. “When ICE puts a hold on someone, it’s because that person is an illegal immigrant, and they have an interest in them,” Sheriff Maurice Cook said. BIDEN ADMIN FACES SCRUTINY OVER RESPONSE TO ‘SIGNIFICANT RISE’ OF ASSAULTS ON BORDER PATROL AGENTS Now, the lawmakers want to know how the suspect re-entered after being deported multiple times, whether immigration authorities knew he was residing in the country, and what potential gaps in enforcement allowed him to re-enter the U.S. ICE did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but the lawmakers pinned the blame for the noncitizen’s presence in the country on the Biden administration. “Another family’s worst nightmare has come to pass, and it’s directly because of the Biden-Harris Administration’s reckless, open-border policies,” Rep. Cloud said in a statement. “Their refusal to enforce our immigration laws has taken another innocent life. How many American citizens have to be killed by illegal immigrants before Joe Biden and Kamala Harris decide to act?” “Yet another Texan is dead directly because of the Biden-Harris border crisis,” Cruz said. “Texans deserve answers about why this illegal alien was allowed back into our country after being deported twice. This crime was both infuriating and avoidable, but the Biden-Harris administration has made a cynical decision to keep the border open for political purposes. The resulting crimes are avoidable, infuriating, and unacceptable.” Gerdes said the community was “heartbroken” by the tragedy and that he would be pushing legislation to address illegal immigration at the state level. All three lawmakers say they want a full investigation into the suspect’s immigration history. The case comes amid a fierce debate over illegal immigration. Republicans have tied the border crisis and the crimes that have emerged from it on the rolling-back of Trump-era policies by the Biden administration. They say that ending border wall construction, ending “Remain-in-Mexico” and narrowing ICE deportations have encouraged increased border crossings. Former President Trump has promised, if re-elected to launch a mass deportation operation. The Biden administration has called for the passage of a bipartisan border security bill introduced in January, which many conservative Republicans have opposed, to increase funding and limit some entries into the U.S.  It has pointed to a sharp decrease in encounters at the border since President Biden signed an executive order in June limiting arrivals. Numbers have since plunged by over 55%. The agency also says it has completed over 700,000 removals or returns for FY 24, the most since 2010.
